New Tunes Tuesday: Part 4

The Hara.

Manchester alt-rock trio formed in 2017 and has caused uproar ever since. Having released 5 Ep’s since 2017, The Hara are well-seasoned in their craft.

2020 saw the release of Play Dead’. A 5 song EP filled to the brim with scratchy guitar riffs, bold and intense drum beats and clever lyrical hooks. What more could you ask for?

Now, ‘Bite Down’ the latest single from the EP is what really caught my attention. It's giving me punk, it's giving me spice, it’s giving me greatness. Blending together those unique guitar riffs, drum hooks and quirky vocals, ‘Bite Down’ is at the top of my playlist.

Scheduled to play some of the biggest festivals around the UK, including Download, Reading & Leeds and TRSMT, The Hara would be playing to some of the largest crowds of their career. But, alas COVID took everything and left nothing for us festival lovers. The Haras have rescheduled their tour dates (linked below) and are playing Glasgow's King Tut’s in May (see you there?).

Not ones to let lockdown hinder their success, The Hara have taken to Tik Tok. The place of all talent. Showing off their skills through covers of popular tik tok sounds, Lady Gaga hits and of course frontman’s (Josh Taylor) amazing dance moves :)

Atlas Run.

Glasgow indie rock band formed in 2016 and has been taking the scene by storm since. After competing in Battle of the Bands for a spot to play at Glasgow music festival, Party At The Palace’ Atlas Run have seen tremendous success.

Better Off’ the emotional single from Atlas Run was released in 2020. Portraying the struggles of releasing yourself from a possible toxic relationship.

‘There’s always eggshell around you’

The song incorporates Paul Howie (vocals/ guitar) powerful lyrics with Stefan Connors fresh bassline. ‘Better Off’ quickly became a favourite among fans. Creating a large fanbase within their local scene, Atlas Run is now looking to break the local scene and go further afield...when they can that is.

It’s safe to say, the Scottish indie scene is in safe hands.

Hannah Mac.

23-year-old singer-songwriter Hannah Mac is making her debut in 2021. Growing up on the classics such as Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet and Michael Buble, Mac found herself drawn to music. Learning how to play guitar, ukulele and piano (a Queen, I know). Mac is now taking the leap and releasing her own music.

‘This Can’t Be’ is coming to all streaming platforms this Wednesday (20.01.2021)! This is Mac's debut single and is a real reflection of her talent. Mac wrote, sang and produced the single. Putting her talents to use in creating a single packed with gorgeous harmonies, soft melodies and a dash of Ukulele playing. ‘This Can’t Be’ will soon be found on playlists for those who like to get lost in their own heads.

As Mac is rather fresh to the music scene, 2021 is all about finding her sound and honing her craft. She is looking to work with new producers and start releasing more music with hopes of releasing her debut EP!

Now, keeping in theme with being a talent powerhouse, Mac has a degree in Languages with International Business! She can speak 3 languages (I can barely speak English) including Spanish and German. This means we are looking at quite a few Spanish and German covers in our future.
