Ben Walker. Cat. The Isomniacs. Distillation.
Young. Determined. Downright talented. Are just some of the words I heard getting used to describe Ben Walker whilst he headlined Glasgow's hottest venue, SLAY.
Saturday the 30th of April was the night, Slay saw 4 amazing acts take to the stage. With a sweet spot for finding the latest up-and-coming bands, B12Entertainment put together yet another awesome gig lineup!
Starting us off was newcomers, Distillation. Performing for the very 1st time as a band, there were some nerves, as to be expected, but the guys soon relaxed and enjoyed every minute of their set. Sneaking in some covers like The Killer's‘ Mr Brightside’, the vibes were good from the start.
To keep the energy high, The Isomniacs took to the stage. You might remember them from B12Enterainments 01475 gigs? If not, where have you been?! Since last September the lads have been grafting non-stop to deliver an incredible show. With covers from Girls Aloud and The Undertones, with some original works sprinkled into the mix. The Isomniacs are sounding tighter than ever before!
Now, unfortunately, the original headliners, Stereo Fire could not perform due to personal circumstances meaning there was a spot to fill. Cat, the absolute legend, stepped in with only 3 HOURS' NOTICE. The anxiety would simply swallow me whole. Performing an acoustic set with soft yet strong vocals, Cat performed her original work ‘Making Me’. Stunning.
Ben Walker. Closing the show is never an easy task, yet Walker makes it look like he was born to do it. Performing for the 1st time with a full band, the guys quickly left their nerves backstage and truly performed with the biggest of smiles. So much so I actually found myself smiling in the crowd. With a setlist of bangers such as Sam Fender's 'Seventeen Going Under’, the crowd were flying high. To seal the deal, Walker and band performed, for the first time, Walker's brand new single ‘High Tower’. A contrasting track with festival-ready vibes!
